This is how I learned a new language.
In this Topic I will post all the steps
and Apps I used to learn my new language which is 'FRENCH'.
1- Make the new learning Language in your weekly schedule.
"Continuous
learning is more effective than discontinuous learning", that means
Spending 2-3 hours every week will make you mastering the new language more
than spending two single days in a month.
2- Take lessons from the Internet and
start learning to write and read the new language
I started with simple apps on android Like (Duo-lingo, Memrise, Babbel..),
then I started using “Rosetta Stone” and “Tell Me More”, and I subscribed to some
courses on “Udemy” and “Skillshare”.
After that I started
learning 3 times per week, each time I focus an hour on learning.
I took notes, I translated
words that I can’t understand, I also read words like a 3 year old child
saying his first words, and it feels so good learning new words every time.
3- Make the new Learning language your default language.
I remember my
friend when he wanted to learn Chinese Language (mandarin) he spend his summer
holidays in china when he came back he improved his skills in Chinese language.
Well, for me, I couldn’t
travel because a lot of things (no time, family...), but I changed my default
language in my life in a simple way, so I did these things:
- I changed my laptop default language to French
- I changed also my phone's language to French
- I watched French TV- shows and movies, or subtitled ones
- I also listened to French songs (Slow songs)
4- Use the expressions that you heard or you learned
It’s hard to learn something new, but it is so easy to forget
by time. Basically, using the expressions that you have learned is the only way
to prevent your language skills from being lost and forgettable.
So, in order to prevent my new language:
- I changed some expressions that I use every day, For example:
- Instead of
saying “Good morning” I say “Bonjour”
- Instead of
saying “I’m hungry” I say “J’ai faim”
- Instead of
saying “I’m coming” I say “j’arrive” or “je viens”
- Instead of
“ I love you ” I say “Je t’aime”
- Find friends or family members who speak the French language, For me, I used social media to find people who want to chat in order to learn (Facebook, Whatsapp...)
* 5- Have fun while you are learning new language.
Test yourself by watching videos without subtitles; and translating
some articles, texts and even a song, also play language games like word games,
“Scrabble” for example. Take a scene from a movie and try to act it.
For me, I sing karaoke songs on YouTube, I still playing
word games especially “scrabble”.
Briefly
